Hi! I'm Fiona, a high school senior at Sage Hill School. I've always loved STEM and have spent many years exploring my interests through competitive math, physics, biology, and cooperative research projects, allowing me to surround myself with girls around the world who are incredible at these fields. Sharing that passion with younger students and encouraging them to embrace how powerful STEM is has always been my favorite thing to do.

As a girl who grew up pursuing STEM, I know that it can sometimes feel intimidating to enter a traditionally male-dominated field, where girls' enthusiasm isn't met with encouragement. Through this organization, I hope to inspire the next generation of female mathematicians, scientists, engineers, economists, ecologists, and innovators by creating opportunities for them to explore, learn, and connect with others who share their curiosity. I believe every girl deserves the chance to discover her potential and become a future leader in STEM.

Outside of STEM, I enjoy spending time with my dog and five cats. I also love creating digital art, songwriting, and writing!

Hello! I'm Joanna, also a senior at Sage Hill. I immigrated to the US when I was nine, hardly fluent in English at the time. In its place, numbers and postulates became my universal language. As the first person in my immediate family to study abroad and in the sciences, I often find myself struggling to network and pave a path into the world of STEM. Through ups and downs, I ended up making many meaningful connections in my various communities, whether it is in the classroom, the neighborhood, or through Sage's alumni. Having experienced and overcame that obstacle myself, I wish to pass the baton and extend this opportunity to other girls who may not know exactly what STEM or a career in it entails.

Besides being a chemistry and environmental science enthusiast, I am also a passionate musician with a bias towards clarinet, saxophone, and the piano. One may often find me snuggled in my couch with a blanket, fervently reading R. F Kuang, Andy Weir, or Mitch Albom.

Introducing Our Leadership

Hi! I'm Johnny, and I'm currently a Junior at Sage Hill School. Originally, I could not see myself liking STEM or doing anything STEM-related. Just the thought of math or science scared me. However, starting in high school, I realized that numbers and experiments weren't scary. Once I knew the steps, they were surprisingly fun. Furthermore, through my exploration of computer science, mathematics, physics, and many other STEM subjects, I've had the opportunity to meet and build connections with so many talented girls forging their own path in STEM.

I know that there are so many girls in the world who are afraid or don't have the opportunities to enter STEM fields because of the fact that much of STEM is male-dominated. Even without demographics, I was scared of STEM, so I can only imagine what this added obstacle would do. That's why I'm a part of Blooming Girls STEM—so everyone can reach their full capacity regardless of their gender.

Other than STEM, I like to listen to music, especially songs from BLACKPINK, and sing. I also love spending time with my friends, my two sisters, and my cat.

Hello, I’m Catherine and I’m a rising senior at Sage Hill. I am deeply interested in the STEM fields, especially in engineering, technology, and AI. My interest in STEM developed through a love for problem-solving in elementary school math class, and I continued to pursue advanced courseworks in math and science in high school to further develop my knowledge.

As a student developer and researcher who aims to solve real-world problems through applying my knowledge, I hope to empower women in STEM through making technology education more accessible.

In my free time, I enjoy dancing, watching movies, and spending time in the cafe. I am also a professional model and the former titleholder of Miss Junior Teen California, through which I actively engaged in community service and efforts supporting women in STEM.

Outreach Director

Hi! I’m Leila, currently a Junior at Sage Hill School. I’ve always loved STEM, from freshman year chemistry to taking Biology over the summer last year, to now taking AP Physics. I really enjoy how challenging it is. STEM has never come easy to me but being challenged has helped me grow so much. My favorite science has to be biology, I find it so interesting that there is a system and reason behind everything in our bodies. It covers everything from macromolecules to evolution and I think it is such a rewarding and fascinating class to take.

Unfortunately, STEM fields are very male dominated, and I believe it is so important that young girls have access to opportunities in those fields. Through participating in this club, I hope to give every girl the crucial opportunities they deserve in STEM.

In my free time I love going to the gym and playing volleyball. I also enjoy trips to the beach with friends and thrifting unique clothes. I have a passion for baking and cooking, especially for friends and family.

Chloe Muller

Hi! My name is Chloe and I’m a junior at Sage Hill School. I have always been drawn to the STEM side of school. From spending hours solving Ted Ed riddles, to building circuits at DEFCON, hands on sciences have always intrigued me. My parents, software and hardware engineers, have shared their love for critical thinking with me. As I progress through my high school career it has been tough deciding what I want to focus on. I enjoy Biology, as well as Astronomy, and I can’t wait to take Computer Science and Physics in the upcoming year. I hope to use all my accumulated skills in upgrading the Sage Hill Garden and making my own small story based video game.

In my free time I enjoy drawing and painting, watching movies, and playing the piano. I play volleyball and basketball at sage as well as BJJ at the local Woodbridge community center. I enjoy colorful makeup, making short movies, making fanart for my favorite shows and editing clothes in my free time.
